Criticizing the anti-Maratha reservation lobby in Maharashtra, Maratha Samanway Samiti president Vinayak Mete reiterated his demand of 25 per cent reservation for the Maratha community in the OBC category during their procession at Thane. The Maratha Aarakshan Rathyatra, organised by the Maratha Samanway Samiti is touring nodes across the state. On its stop over at Thane, Maratha Samanway Samiti president Vinayak Mete stated that considering the poor financial condition and unemployment in the Maratha community, reservation is a must for them. He also stated that the consequences would be worse if Marathas are not given reservations before the elections. He demanded erection of the Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s memorial in the Arabian Sea in Mumbai. The yatra began at Raigad on January 4 and will conclude at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on February 1. On the occasion, Mr Mete and his activists appealed the people from the community to attend the gathering in Mumbai in large numbers and support the cause for the welfare of the community.
