Jago Hindustani Manch’s President and Editor of Mukt Bharat Vinod Gangawal was on his fourth day of indefinite hunger strike when his efforts finally paid off and the tehsildaar agreed to include 1.5 lakhs names of voters in the voters list. To vote for their representative is the right of every citizen which was being taken away by the Tehsildaar at Kharghar. Around 1.5 lakh residents of Kharghar were not included in the voters list snatching away from them the right to vote. The names that were included did not have the accurate address or information about voters hinting towards massive corruption in the election office. Protesting this, Jago Hindustani Manch’s President and Editor of Mukt Bharat Vinod Gangawal had gone on a hunger strike. His efforts though paid off and on his fourth day of strike, the Tehsildaar agreed to include the names of all the 1.5 lakh resident who had submitted their respective documents but were not included in the voters list. Vinod Gangwal’s victory is not only the victory of journalists’ fraternity who are on a mission to make a difference in society but more than that, it is triumph of democracy.
