His walk for a cause continued this week too as Airoli MLA Sandeep Naik walked ward no. 20 and 22 in Airoli. These wards house the poorest of the poor as they are all slums and villages. The MLA inspected the burning issues of the wards, interacted with citizens and took on the spot decisions that he plans to implement within the next three months to address civic woes in the wards.
He’s on a mission to walk for a cause. MLA Sandeep Naik, who has started a first-of-its-kind initiative of going to people to find out their problems; continued his “MLA At Your Doorsteps” drive this week in the wards of 20 and 22 of Airoli. Villages and slums constitute these wards that have the poorest of the poor living in them. One of the important areas that need authorities’ attention is the pond in the ward. The citizens of the ward informed that beautification of the pond, repairing the drainage system and water supply are the three major civic issues that need to be addressed.
The visit culminated with a public meet where in residents gave written complaints of their issues to the MLA. Speaking to the media after the visit, MLA Sandeep Naik said that as far as the water woes of the residents are concerned, they will be addressed as Morbe Dam water is soon going to reach these wards. As for the pond, the MLA said that he has seen where the fault lies and has asked NMMC officials to address it.
Residents of the wards were seen coming out of their homes in hordes to meet their MLA. Anyone who joined the MLA’s visit, witnessed that neither the stinking public toilets, foul smell of garbage lying on streets, narrow lanes nor the stench of human and animal waste, unhygienic conditions deterred MLA Sandeep Naik from walking almost both the wards on foot to meet citizens, hear their problems, inspect their woes and issue dikats to officials to address them.
MLA Sandeep Naik assured residents of the ward that he will be back to meet them after three months just to see if officials had resolved the issue of the citizens. And so will continue the walk of the youth MLA, all for a cause. With cameraperson Vinayak Dalvi, Sana Warsia for NMTV News.
