It’s the festival time of Diwali and the city residents are forced to live with acute water shortage, the reason being that the Bhatsa dam that supplies water to the city is found with leaks. While adequate rainfall was seen this monsoon season, city residents are still reeling under acute water shortage. Everyday Mumbai receives 3400 MLD water with the requirement of Bhatsa dam upto 2000 MLD water. However, it has received only 1000 MLD out of which 300 mld of water has leaked out due to cracks in the dam resulting in water scarcity city.
