WILL NMMC TAKE ACTION AGAINST ERRANT CONTRACTORS FOR POOR QUALITY OF ROAD WORK

bad-roadJust a few days of heavy rains have left their marks on city roads in the form of potholes and craters. The result: Bumpy rides, and twists and turns for motorists on roads. Worst affected areas is sector 17 and 14 of Vashi. The condition of roads in Navi Mumbai especially in sector 17 and 14 of Vashi is at its worse, with thousands of potholes making the roads virtually impossible to drive on. One of the posh sectors of Vashi, sector 14 and sector 17 can easily earn the top prize for being the sectors with the most number of potholes, with virtually every lane and bylane badly scarred. For many, it’s only history repeating itself. Except this year, Navi Mumbaikars say, the condition is at its worse. The potholes are also a headache for students riding on bicycles. Many residents even voiced that the problem can only be sorted by using better material for the roads. The bad condition of roads, is making opinion-makers suggest the civic system needs to be rehauled for more effective management. Contractors do a shoddy job at filling up the road with the internal road at sector 14 itself seeing repair work several times since last monsoon. For Navi Mumbaikars, it’s another case of mismanagement of roads and their tax money as well and they can only hope that the contractors’ patchy work will atleast survive one rainfall.
