With every passing day the NMMC Elections 2010 contest is getting keener by the day. NMTV Political Experts bring to you a peek into what could be the election results node wise with our exclusive political analysis. The 4th General Election of NMMC is heading towards interesting contest and upsets. With BJP and Shiv Sena unitedly contesting for the first time in the city, the saffron alliance might be able to improve their score of only 9 members in the present general body. On the other hand, the suspense on the NCP-Congress alliance is over as both the parties have decided to fight the elections alone. * KOPERKHAIRANE – CLEAN SWEEP FOR NCP With Shivram Patil joining NCP, the NCP could increase their tally in Koperkhairane from the present 6 to a clean sweep of all the 9 seats. * GHANSOLI – CLOSE CONTEST BETWEEN NCP AND CONGRESS The NCP candidates in Ghansoli, could face a close contest from the Congress opponents.. * AIROLI DIGHA AND DIVA – MNS FACTOR COULD CREATE DENTS IN SHIV SENA VOTE BANK There are chances that Vijay Chougule could increase the tally of Shiv Sena in the 17 wards in Digha-Airoli from the present 2 that is Kishore Gaikar and Vijay Chougule to 4 seats. However the NCP strengthened by the breakaway Ashtvinayak Group from Shiv Sena, will improve its tally in Airoli from the present 9 to atleast 12. The congress party may have to lose one of the two seats to NCP. The MNS could weaken the Shiv Sena and may open its account from these 17 seats in Airoli-Digha-Diva region. From ward 18 to 23, the spoils may be shared with two seats for Congress, 1 independent that is Ranjana Sonawane and 3 seats to NCP. This probability is based on the strength of the party in respective wards. Except for 1 seat, NCP will win all the 7 seats in wards 37 to 43. Though the assembly elections numbers were good for Shiv Sena in assembly elections, MNS had not fielded any candidate against Sena candidate Vijay Chougule but now the MNS is fielding educated candidates in the elections that could create dent into the vote bank of Shiv Sena in Airoli, Digha and Diva. * VASHI – TURBHE: MAJOR UPSETS FOR CONGRESS IN THE OFFING Major upsets are in the offing for the Congress in wards 44 to 61 in Vashi-Turbhe region. Out of the 5 sitting seats of the Congress, the NCP could bag atleast 3 of them and with Vikram Raju Shinde and Vitthal More officially joining NCP, the tally of NCP could go upto 15 out of 18 seats. Even Youth Congress President Dashrath Bhagat faces an uphill task against NCP’s Sunil Sutar at Vashi village. The Shiv Sena tally in wards 62 to 68 which is presently 3 will remain the same. NCP will improve its tally to 2 or 3 from the present 1 of J D Sutar. * SANPADA : MNS TO PLAY SPOILSPORT FOR SHIV SENA In Sanpada village, the Congress may upset the Shiv Sena with the MNS playing spoilsport for Shiv Sena. * NERUL – CLEAN SWEEP FOR NCP The Nerul node from wards 69 to 80 will be a sweep of 8 seats out of 12 seats and the Shiv Sena and Congress sharing the balance 4 seats. District Congress President Namdeo Bhagat faces the prospect of an upset. Congress candidates Santosh Shetty and his wife will lock horns with NCP candidates Deputy Mayor Shahsikant Birajdaar and his wife. An upset for the Congress here too cannot be ruled out. The NCP dominated wards from 81 to 89 is all set to retain atleast 6 NCP seats. Even Eknath Tandel’s Congress seat in Karave will go to NCP in all it likelihood. While sworn enemies Ashok Gawde and Bharat Jadhav will retain seats as friends in NCP as Bharat Jadhav the lone BJP corporator has defected to the NCP. * CBD BELAPUR – CLEAN SWEEP FOR NCP All wards in CBD Belapur will see the NCP flag swaying comfortably though Abhimanyu Koli from the Shiv Sena could cause and upset in ward 84 if the Congress and NCP votes are split in a big way. The Shiv Sena seat of Diwale however is all set to be unsurped by NCP’s Rajeshri Katkari. The Samajwadi Party and RPI will not make any impact though MNS could ruin the saffron alliance prospects to a great extent. The MNS will open its account in NMMC in its maiden attempt. The Congress may face difficulties to even touch the double figure mark and could lose its opposition party status too in NMMC. While the NCP is all set to romp home with a comfortable margin.
