WITH MOTORMEN INDEFINITE STRIKE, NMMT TO TAKE OUT ADDITIONAL BUSES ON ROAD

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport has decided to run 100 additional buses in order to contain the rail commuters on the wake of the indefinite strike by Central and Western railway motormen. Shilpa Suryavanshi reports. The Central and Western railway is an integral part of the entire city. But now that the motormen of these rail routes have gone on an indefinite strike from today, rail commuters will have to find alternate source for travel. Considering the magnitude of the situation, NMMT has decided to run additional 100 buses. Out of these, 50 buses are private and another 50 are of NMMT. These buses would run on the routes of CBD-Dadar; Vashi-Dadar, Vashi-Thane; Vashi-Dombivli; Vashi-Kalyan; Vashi-Ambarnath; Vashi-Badlapur and Vashi-Panvel. Though NMMT service has bad reputation for its frequency; however in time-testing period, it’s going to provide buses at the 10-15 minutes frequency. NMMT Transport Manager informed about their preparation. He further informed that 50 officers will be deployed at various destinations to handle the crowd. It wouldn’t be an easy task to contain the office goers in available buses. Apparently the indefinite strike is going to haunt the commuters in coming days. In case of unexpected hassle, commuters can contact on the NMMT’s helpline no. 9224317455 or 27846724. With cameraperson Vinayak Dalvi, Shilpa Suryawanshi for NMTV News.
