Trouble had started for the Sahara Company since the year 2008 for Subrata Roy, when he was found guilty of inheriting billion of dollars that he had illegally collected from small investors. According to the court, Subrata had delayed in repaying money that was collected through his company from rural savers through bond sales. Not only did Subrata Roy failed to do the payments, he even didn’t appear in the court when he was been ordered to for his hearing. This led to an immediate arrest of the Sahara supremo.
However, Subrata Roy himself had submitted to the Lucknow police, in the morning hours of Friday. Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh is the same place where the Sahara company has its headquarters.
‘As a law-abiding citizen of the country, this morning he willfully submitted himself to Lucknow police. He is cooperating with the authorities’ as been stated by Subrata’s son, Seemanto Roy. Kiran Kidwai – International Desk, NMTV
