After the raid that was held in many sonography clinics in the city, NMMC held a workshop for private clinics. The workshop was attended by Dr Prakash Doke, Director of Health Services, Government of Maharashtra who stated that NGOs, doctors, lawyers and the media should work together to expose clinics violating the Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques Act of 1994. According to reports, with female infanticide, sex ratio in the country is dropping day by day. To curb this issue, the Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques Act of 1994 was brought into existence which prohibits sex selection but there are many sonography clinics which still violate this rule. Keeping this in mind, NMMC Health Department along with Navi Mumbai Nursing Home Owner Association and radiologist Association held a workshop for private clinics in the city. Present as the chief guest was Dr Prakash Doke, Director of Health Services, Government of Maharashtra, who appealed to the doctors, lawyers and media to expose clinics violating the PCPNDT Act. The workshop also discussed many important topics like that of registration of the clinic, registration of machines and model numbers, registration certificate etc. Also present during the occasion was Dr D S Dakhure, State Additional Director of Health Services, NMMC Additional Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Pattiwar, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Deepak Paropkari, Dr. Dilip Rane and others.
