zakhirWith the aim of promoting Hindustani Classical Music and nurturing youth talent, musicians from across the country have come together to form the All India Musicians Group. India’s tabla maestro Zakir Hussain and other eminent musicians met the media to share details on how does the group plan to work and promote classical music. Held at the premises of India’s premier institute for music “the National Center for Performing Arts, Mumbai”, musicians met in the city recently. The eminent names of the industry discussed the challenges that lie ahead of the Hindustani classical music industry. The other discussions and deliberations during the meeting revolved around education of classical music at school level, progress of Hindustani classical music and nurturing youth talents. The eminent names of the industry who graced the dais during the discussions included Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Sajan Mishra and Ashok Vajpayee. The musicians announced the formation of the All India Musicians Group for tackling the challenges and promoting classical music. NMTV News caught up with Ustad Zakir Hussain on the occasion.
