Once again the efforts of MLC Manda Mhatre have paid off and Belapur village will be finally getting its long pending demand of a well-equipped hospital fulfilled. Many are calling this as a political stunt with elections nearing but 16 years of hard work has paid off. The hospital at the village that was being run by Zilla Parishad will now be handed over to NMMC. Speaking during a press conference, MLC Manda Mhatre informed the media that she had been trying to transfer the one public hospital situated at Belapur village under NMMC for better functioning. Negligence was noted on part of the Zilla Parishad towards the hospital after the formation of NMMC in 1992. The dire situation had led to the closure of the hospital with the locals forced to travel in the city for medical treatments. She informed that NMMC will be reconstructing the hospital and increasing its capacity upto 50 beds. Nilofar Shaikh NMTV News.
